Jericho Community Day at Codemasters Headquartes, Oct 12th 2007

There are just too many impressions to share! Where should I start? Should I mention my excitement about the possibility to meet the guys who were producing games since 1985? I repeat- since 1985! Can you imagine? PCs were not available at those times, but people (huh, including me!) were already playing Codemasters' games on Commodore, Atari or Sinclair machines! Do you remember Dizzy series or Micro machines? Well, these were from Codemasters indeed!

And if you are younger, you definitely should know Colin McRae Rally series that became the modern classic. By the way, if you catch me taking the corners at high speed, blame Colin McRae Rally and Codemasters, but not me :P Yes, this game is SO damn good! And I'm not talking about their upcoming title which is cursed to become the horror classic- Clive Barker's Jericho :)

So as you can imagine the invitation for Codemasters Open Day was the real thrill for me as well as for other 14 Jericho's and Codemasters' fans. But let me put it this way- both, the company's history and their awesome games, went into the second plan after we met the actual people behind Codemasters' name. Their friendliness, open-hearted communication and brightness were the most awesome discovery about this game company. I should mention that overall it looked more like a club of friendly, enthusiastic and, of course, similarly thinking people.

And I mean it- their friendliness is much more than a nice politeness of an educated person. For t hem it is natural and comes from their hearts. Can you imagine the Vice President of Brand (Tim Woodley) sitting on stairs with a sandwich in his hand and discussing about Clive Barker's Jericho? Or Senior Community Liaison Manager Samantha and Senior Web Content Editor Peer bringing sandwiches and desserts for us by themselves? Well, you could possibly be spoiled by your mama which is bringing the breakfast to your bed, but believe me- Codemasters' communication is truly phenomenal for such a huge company.

You will have to excuse me for such an unstructured flow of my impressions, but there were really lots of them. Wow, I forgot to tell about their office! It deserves a separate story, but it was already done by J. K. Rowling when she described Hogwarts School in 'Harry Potter' :) Well, maybe Codemasters' building is a bit smaller, but it's looking not less magical! So that's not a surprise that Lord of the Rings Online were born at their site :)

P.S. I did mention the pub and the beer after the visit, didn't I? :) Greetings to Peer! The next time I'm paying for beer :P
